Executive DirectorMichael is the Managing Director of Sofala Capital where he has driven the investment strategy for the company and the formation and development of both Zambian Home Loans and IBUILD Home Loans (South Africa). Prior to founding Sofala Capital, Michael was a Director of Standard Bank Plc where he headed the origination and structuring for the African Markets business. In this role he operated extensively in all of the bank’s 17 African presence countries and specialised in local currency structured finance using both domestic and international risk distribution channels. Over his time with Standard, Michael originated and managed a US$500m cross-border, asset backed lending book, (predominantly into Nigeria). He also lead-arranged toll roads, power plants, agricultural facilities, Eurobond placements, property transactions, local pension fund placements and mezzanine loans.
Michael is a Chartered Accountant and CFA Charter holder.
Chief Executive OfficerZitha holds a BCom (Finance and Economics) degree from WITS and a PDBA from GIBS. Zitha has spent over 10 years in financial services. His career started in Investment Banking covering SADC, EU and US Capital Markets. After a fulfilling career between JP Morgan, Investec Bank and Barclays Capital, he established a business in the niche space of Financial Wellness and Employee Benefits. Driven by a purpose to empower the “voiceless” workers he joined forces with The Food and Allied Workers Union to give rise to what is today known as Basebenzi Investment Group; the investment wing of the union.
Operations ManagerMartin has 15 years financial services experience, with a focus on systems and credit risk. He joined iBuild at inception and has been responsible for the development and management of the lending systems, processes and risk management oversight. Prior to joining iBuild, Martin managed credit risk for Standard Bank in Africa and worked at Investec Specialist Bank. Martin holds a Masters in Finance and an Honours degree in Information Systems, both from the University of Cape Town.
Credit ManagerKurt was part of the team that launched IBUILD Home Loans in January 2017. He was subsequently appointed as executive Director of IBUILD, responsible for Credit Operations. He has more than 10 years’ experience in the financial services industry, specializing in home loans. He has previously worked for Mortgage SA, (now known as Ooba), Integer Home Loans and GMG Trust.
Kurt completed his South African Estate Agency Board exam and Fundamentals of Real Estate in South Africa at the Pam Golding Training Academy.
Corporate Sales and Marketing ManagerBrian joined IBUILD Home Loans prior to its launch and has been responsible for brand development and sales. He has driven the brand message through various channels including radio, direct marketing and online and was subsequently appointed as an executive director of the Company. He has served in management, marketing and customer service roles in retail organizations for over 10 years and is a proud alumnus of the Raymond Ackerman Academy and Damelin, where he studied entrepreneurship and business administration courses respectively.
Gauteng Regional ManagerMpho is a qualified engineering professional with a Masters of Management in Finance and Investment. He also is well-equipped with essential business skills gained from being on the MBA exchange programme in Canada. He was a Junior Mining Engineer at Gold Fields in 2013. Mpho also worked as a Commercial Real Estate Broker at High Street Auction Company, where he was responsible for property acquisition and disposal.
Mpho is passionate about real estate markets and would like to make a significant contribution to the property landscape in South Africa and Africa at large.
